Government of Canada RSS
Ever on the bleeding edge of eGovernment, the Government of Canada has announced 35 new RSS feeds with National and regional news, Aboriginal and Business information, government, immigration and employment items and more.
The new feed information page also provides a backgrounder on RSS with instructions on how to obtain and install RSS software:
Rich Site Summary (RSS) or as some refer to it, Real Simple Syndication, is an XML-based format for content distribution in real time. Government of Canada Newsroom feeds will include the date, title, summary and a link to the full news article.
For those without readers, Teledynamics is pleased to provide a free aggregated listing combining all gov.ca feeds, and the news page now sub-groups some of the categories.

Online Publishing Alternatives
Steve Outing of Editor and Publisher has come out strong in support of RSS as a viable adjunct for business publishing online:
E-mail has been hurt by out-of-control spam and the spam-filter "false-positive" issue, but that does NOT mean it's dying as a publishing medium (though there are industry pundits who believe e-mail is doomed). Far from it. Any news publisher who wants to thrive should be publishing content via e-mail and RSS.
The column goes on to describe some outdated objections to RSS, but also covers two innovative Canadian-based projects to integrate RSS feeds into the desktop, one as a general alert box, the other as a toolbar extension for the Microsoft browser, but what Steve neglects to mention is how RSS is an immediate publishing channel, a means to get your message to your audience now. read more »

Dropping Dave Winer's RSS
Pending the resolution of Dave Winer's statements today regarding possible legal action against websites who include or aggregate his scripting news RSS stream, Teledynamics is dropping the Dave Winer Scripting News feeds from our news aggregator queue
We will miss Dave's posts, but we just don't have the time to specifically visit every single site we'd like to read, and we really don't want to risk any expensive encounters with Boston lawyers right now. We hope Dave Winer will eventually see the light of reason and we will re-instate his feed into our aggregated Bloggerati pool once Scripting News has added clear assurances that he's willing to share and share alike.
If anyone else notices their RSS feed being used on the communiqué where you'd rather it not, please just let us know and we'll remove it promptly.

The dynamics of ridiculously easy group-forming
Sebastien Paquet has picked up on our recent musings about ENT and self-categorizing of weblogs through RSS in his posting on The dynamics of ridiculously easy group-forming -
Very interesting exchange between David Sifry and Gary Lawrence Murphy on what happens when everyone is empowered to create open channels where any blogger can contribute content. (I believe the Internet Topic Exchange is the first implementation of that idea.)
What Gary writes is similar to the (private) reasoning that led me to decide that the ridiculously easy group-forming idea was probably worth an experiment or two.
